Main Questline V-Bucks Rewards in Fortnite STW
In Save the World, every tenth Main Story mission ends with a Storm Shield Defense and rewards you with 100 V-Bucks plus Skill Points. Early on, these Shield missions appear frequently, allowing you to accumulate V-Bucks by simply progressing through the story. Each Defense also grants Hero XP and Mini Llamas for your whole team.
If you ever get stuck, jump into global chat—plenty of players will join, earn their own rewards, and help you complete the “Hold the Door!” challenge.
Main Questline Areas in Fortnite
The Main Questline is split into four major regions. You unlock the next region after completing a set number of missions. Each zone has its own quest chain, but Storm Shield Defenses add six missions to every area regardless of other tasks.
Clearing those six Shield missions rewards another 600 V-Bucks (100 per Shield). Later, the number 10 Defense mission appears again as a side job, giving 150 V-Bucks for that run, raising the total per zone to 1050 V-Bucks.
- Stonewood: 34 quests; Storm Shield Defense missions at missions 1, 9, 16, 23, 28, and 34.
- Plankerton: 51 quests; fewer Shield Defenses than Stonewood.
- Canny Valley: 81 quests; even fewer Shield Defenses.
- Twine Peaks: 98 quests; least number of Shield Defenses.

Benefits of Progressing in Save the World
Each time you finish a Shield Defense mission that gives V-Bucks, you also unlock new spots and expand your Storm Shields.
Completing a Storm Shield Defense mission grows your shield and unlocks new mission locations. Along the way, you’ll discover Challenges and Side Quests, some of which also reward V-Bucks.
Each zone adds four new Storm Shield Defense missions as Side Quests. When entering a new area, you can also start its special Daily Quests. Unlocking new regions boosts your chance of finding Timed Missions that reward V-Bucks — check the Timed Missions tab to see today’s available tasks.
