Free the V-Bucks

Claim Free V-Bucks: A Quick Guide

V-Bucks Earning in Save the World

main

There are very few ways to earn V-Bucks by playing the Battle Royale game, but it holds true for the PvE campaign.

Fortnite events used to offer a lot of V-Bucks, but the last big pay-out was the Road Trip event in 2018. Some events make Mini-Boss missions more rewarding, sometimes more than doubling the typical V-Bucks payout if you weren’t playing during the event. There was even a quest line for each event and ways to track progress.

Current Save the World Event and Weekly Store

Players can transform heroes, weapons, traps, and survivors during these events. Completing tasks often rewards a free legendary item and some V-Bucks. The event store rotates with each theme, offering new items to hunt. During live events, you accumulate currency to purchase Event Llamas, allowing you to get heroes and schematics without spending regular V-Bucks. Llamas purchased with regular V-Bucks still drop the new event currency. New loot also updates the Collection Book.

V-Bucks as Event Quest Rewards

Unfortunately, since Road Trip in 2018, big events haven’t awarded free V-Bucks, putting quest lines on a treadmill to nowhere.

Blockbuster (April 15 – June 30, 2020)

This event skipped V-Bucks entirely; players only hunted loot by other means.

No Dancing & School of Hard Knox, Plus Cram Session (February 20 – April 15, 2020)

Quests in these events did not reward any V-Bucks.

Holly Jolly Ransom & Frostnite (December 12 – February 20, 2020)

Again, no V-Bucks in the event questlines.

Fortnitemares 2019 (October 22 – December 12, 2019)

Spooktacular season quests omitted V-Buck rewards.

The Long Road Home & Hit the Road (August 2019)

Hit the Road (patch v10.00) and The Long Road Home (patch v10.20) brought Gold, Event Tickets, legendary ranged weapons, and a new Constructor Hero. Rad Llamas could be bought with Event Tickets, but no part of these quest lines dropped V-Bucks.

STELLAR HORIZON + Tales of Beyond + Wargames (May 9 – August 1, 2019)

No V-Bucks from any event questlines.

Love Storm + Yarrr! (February 28 – May 9, 2019)

No V-Bucks as event rewards.

Frostnite (December 18, 2018 – February 28, 2019)

Quest lines did not award V-Bucks.

Fortnitemares 2018 (October 24 – December 6, 2018)

No V-Bucks in quests, but timed missions rewarded more than before.

Cram Session (September 27 – October 24, 2018)

No V-Bucks payouts.

Road Trip (July 12 – September 27, 2018)

Completing the entire Road Trip set awarded 500 V-Bucks, tickets, perk mats, one Legendary hero, and banners.

Into the Storm (April – July 2018)

Completing the quest line gave 300 V-Bucks and 6000 tickets, plus legendary weapons and heroes.

Spring It On! (February 15 – April 11, 2018)

Finishing this storyline earned 10,000 Firecracker Tickets, 800 V-Bucks, legendary items, and seasonal gold.

Mutant Storms Rewards

Mutant Storms (January 25 – February 15, 2018) dropped V-Bucks and other loot. Completing all quest stages could earn you 50 V-Bucks each time.

In November – December 2017, the Unsafe Deposit mission let you earn up to 800 V-Bucks by opening safes (100 V-Bucks each step). Safes are usually inside buildings and harder to find than Treasure Chests.

Survive the Holidays (December 14, 2017 – January 25, 2018)

Completing event quests here gave up to 400 V-Bucks total, including side missions rewarding 100 V-Bucks each.

Fortnitemares-Halloween Spooktacular (October 26 – November 29, 2017)

Complete 23 challenges to earn over 400 free V-Bucks. Every three missions, you get a 50-V-Buck bonus. You’ll also collect candies to trade for a Fortnitemares Llama with guaranteed Epic or limited-time Survivors.
